    Major Turnoffs

[Major Turnoffs]In the game of relationships, everybody is turned off by something or the other. It may be something small like a protruding tooth or something big like an affinity of bathing with dead animals. Either way there's usually a "but" following the "he's great" description. Three of my major turnoffs were in my face recently and I took notice. This isn't even just a turnoff from a potential romantic partner but even with new people who could turn into friends. Realising... [... read more]

    Gazing At My Ass

[Gazing At My Ass]The last time I remember heading off to a yoga class was the beginning of last year. En route I crashed my car, didn't make it to class and haven't attempted to do any yoga since. Well, that's not entirely true. I have done some yoga in my FreshStart bootcamp and during Ka Huna trainings, but those times were intermingled with other forms of exercise and body work. Until this very night, I haven't done a full, dedicated yoga class in over a year and a half. I did... [... read more]

Is It Tragic Only If People Know About It?

Thanks to the "news" provided to me by collective Facebook and Twitter statii, I learned that singer Amy Winehouse died recently (probably in the last day or so). I know that she's the singer of that anti-rehab song and, judging from the status comments and replies, her death was a result of her little drug issue.

Which leads me to the so-called tragedy of this whole... [... read more]

    My Own Worst Enemy

"We have seen the enemy and it is us." - Pogo

I am a natural dreamer. By this I mean that I have always concocted ideas and inspirations that saw me living a life less than ordinary. With a few exceptions, I've always dreamt big, challenging the norm, aiming for above average.

Not that all that many of these imaginings have seen the light of day. There are still lists of desires that I'd envisioned over the past five, ten, and fifteen years that... [... read more]

    First Enlightedment, Then The Dishes

My spiritual journey began early. Born into a Hindu family who spent regular time fasting and meeting for group worship both in temple and at private homes, I grew to enjoy the bhajan singing, the rich mythologies, and the idea of the power that the gods bestowed on the devout. These ideas started eroding as I questioned the ways of the people who gave me this information. By the age of nine, I'd rejected religion even though I found a calling to... [... read more]

Did Nothing Musically Significant Happen Last Decade?

East Coast radio play an awesome selection of music from the last three or so decades. What interests me is that they promote the station with the catch phrase, "playing the best music from the 80s, the 90s and now". This immediately got me thinking. What happened to the music from last decade?

Surely there were significant musical evolutions in the 00s. It would be sad to think that in the next few years, nobody would be able to pinpoint a song as being distinctly from the 00s or the... [... read more]

I Chose The Wrong Story Lock

Beginning in my childhood, I'd got the idea that there wasn't enough time in my life. The first notion of this was, when I was between the ages of four and six, watching a tv program on Nostra Darmis's prediction of the end of the world. The program predicted a third world war originating in the middle east, ending the planet as we know it by the year 1999. My young self took this to heart and aligned my choices according to this notion.

Even though I later... [... read more]

    Church of My Heart

[Church of My Heart]A few people in my friendship circle are aware of the fact that I'm a regular depression sufferer. It's something that I've dealt with for my entire adult and late teen life. Those people that don't know this are often surprised to learn it because they more than likely know me to be an exceptionally jovial character. Like the crying clown, I put on a good show, I think :-) Virtually every year, there is a period in which I need to sort out my inner emotions which... [... read more]
